After an absence of nearly 2 years, it was wonderful to get back to Sedgefield Racecourse for our annual ROFLOW Ladies Evening. As usual, our fundraising occasion was held in the ROFLOW Suite and in support of the terrific Great North Air Ambulance Service charity.
A deeply sincere thankyou and heartfelt appreciation to all who attended and supported our event. These are still hugely challenging times for individuals and families, as well as all charities alike.
Our event is now well established in the annual Sedgefield Racecourse calendar. The evening of racing, fun and entertainment provides us with the auspicious opportunity to support the fantastic GNAAS.
Once again, our host for the evenings proceedings was seamlessly undertaken by our indefatigable host Mr Derek Beasley. Derek produced a captivating interview with local racehorse trainer Rebecca Menzies. A true rising star, Rebecca operates her racing establishment from the local Howe Hills Stables, five minutes from Sedgefield.
A natural charismatic and eloquent young lady, Rebecca gave great explanation to the inner workings of a racehorse training life. She exudes genuine tlc with pride and undoubtedly is on the money in the understanding of racehorse training. All were enthralled at her knowledge of what’s required in happy healthy horse welfare and correct nurturing for maximum potential.
Racing complete, super host Derek conducted his perspicacious talent with the charity auction and raffle. This was augmented with an on-course raffle with a first prize stay at the Clan Young Suite, Reiver Apartments. clanyoungsuite.co.uk
Total amount raised for the event was a huge £10,300.00. Once again, our appreciation to Lorna Fagan and her colleagues at Santander for their support funding.
The evening’s entertainment was concluded with Miss Loud herself, Lorraine Crosby. Lorraine famously sang alongside Meatloaf on his 1993 hit single ‘I would do anything for love’ (but I won’t do that). Lorraine has been a great addition to this and many of our other fund-raising events. Many thanks to Lorraine, guitarist hubby Stu and her band.
In the meantime keep safe be healthy and we look forward to welcoming you all in next years event.
