Comprehensive Process Hall and Warehouse Ventilation & Heat Recovery Scheme

Comprehensive Process Hall and Warehouse Ventilation & Heat Recovery Scheme Installed at Household Name Laminate Manufacturer Formica’s North Tyneside Facility

  • Roflow Vertical Supply Air Ventilation Units
  • Roof Extract Fans Installed
  • Wild Heat From Process Removed as Generated by System
  • Air Transfer Heat Recovery System Installed
  • Full BMS Controls

Roflow have completed the design, manufacture and installation of an extensive ventilation scheme for the new Formica manufacturing hall at its North Tyneside plant including fresh air delivery via Roflow Vertical Supply Air Ventilation Units, extraction to outside provided by newly installed roof fan units, an air transfer heat recovery system installed between the process hall and the adjacent warehouse and a full BMS control strategy.

The Formica Group is the worlds largest manufacturer of high-pressure laminate and is a globally recognised brand having a history dating back to 1912. The North Tyneside site has been undergoing a multi-million-pound investment development programme.

The process of manufacturing laminate consequentially produces high internal gains due to the large amount of sensible heat given off by the process. In order to maintain thermal comfort and productivity, a high-volume supply / extract system was installed, allowing the wild heat to be removed as generated. The plant has a first stage air transfer heat recovery system which cascades warm air into the new adjacent warehouse as demanded.

All ventilation plant control is multiple zone intelligent format from a precise upper/ lower limit temperature sensing arrangement. The system was fully commissioned by our in-house maintenance and site services team.
