After many wonderful years enjoyed hosting various charity events at Sedgefield Racecourse, we were thrilled to have returned to Newcastle Racecourse.
Still part of the Arena Racing Company (ARC) it was a great pleasure to be back with our new charity racing event. This being, our new Spring Evening Gala Gallop and hosted in the newly refurbished Park View Suite of the racecourse.
We had an X Factor event with the stars aligning for an immense evening of racing, entertainment and bigheartedness. Notwithstanding the beautiful weather for the occasion.
Any sponsored event can only be successful with the support of charitable people whom shoulder the spirit of the cause. So, an enormous thank you for making our return to Newcastle Racecourse so enjoyable.
The event included entertainment from X Factor star Steve Brookstein. Steve still holds the record for the most votes in one night, with over 6 million votes when he became the first ever winner of The X Factor. He went on to have a number one album ‘Heart and Soul’ and number one single ‘Against all Odds’.
Steve was joined on stage with Soul Sisters Louise Mehan and Carly McKee. Louise also heads up the fantastic Newcastle band Solutions with long time writing partner Steve Lee.
Once again, in brief, the ROFLOW sponsored Spring Evening Gala Gallop 2024 was rounded up to £12.5k. An additional event contribution from Santander resulted in a marvellous total of £15k for the appointed charities. ABF (The Soldiers Charity est. 1944) and SSAFA The Armed Forces Charity (est. 1885). This allows us to broaden our reach within the armed forces as both organisations work together. They collectively support serving personnel, veterans and their families.

It would be remiss not to mention the organisational support of ROFLOW’s Louise Foster, Craig Young and our ever charming and bombastic host Mr Derek Beasley. Many thanks to the greatfully appreciated support of Santander’s Lorna Fagan.
Finally, thankyou and delighted to be back at Newcastle Racecourse ‘Bringing a Breath of fresh air’. We look forward to 2025.
